A nationwide competition has been launched to celebrate this year’s Ride To Work Day and the hunt is on to find the most motorcycle friendly company in Great Britain.

Ride To Work Day, organised by The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI), is taking place on Wednesday, July 16, and this year it forms an important part of MCI’s Bike Britain promotional campaign, which is being sponsored by one of the UK’s leading motorcycle insurance specialists, Bennetts Insurance Services.

The prize of ‘The Most Motorcycle Friendly Company in Great Britain’ competition is a free motorcycle park on site for the benefit of employees and MCI Director of Public Affairs Craig Carey-Clinch says entering the competition is a great way of taking part on the day.

He said: “This year we want to open up Ride To Work day to people who aren’t involved in the motorcycle industry but are interested in finding a faster and easier way to get to work.

“Congestion is a growing problem and travelling to work by motorcycle, moped or scooter is really the only way to go.”

The winner of the competition will be the company, which manages to get the highest number of employees to travel to work by motorcycle, moped or scooter on Ride To Work Day (Wednesday, July 16). It is not open to any companies involved in the motorcycle industry.

This is the competition’s second year and in 2002, Bentley Motor Cars in Crewe walked off with the £1,500 prize after 100 employees rode to work on the day. Pfizer in Kent came a close second with more than 90 members of staff taking part.

Ride To Work Day has been running since 1999 and was set up by The Motor Cycle Industry Association.

Every year, hundreds of people take part and discover riding to work by motorcycle, moped and scooter is the fastest way to go.
