It was rumoured that Aprilia was
to launce a completely new RSV1000 at Intermot, but that didn't
happen and no further news was forthcoming. In October the word
was that the NEC would see the new bike revealed to the world for
the first time, but yet again nothing hapened. So where has the
new bike gone?
We know Aprilia will be launching
a completely new version of the RSV at some stage and it is reasonably
well know that they have a well developed prototype of the next
Mille that makes a quantum leap, in terms of both engine performance
and handling, over the current model.
Although
there is some chance that the redesigned Mille will be released
mid-year, it will more likely be presented in September 2003 at
Milan as a 2004 model. We will have to wait and see just
what happens over the coming 12 months.
In the meantime we have sourced
some photos claimed to be the new Mille R. We are not completely
sure if they are what they claim to be but a family resemblance
can be seen in all the shots.
