'Sunny Hunny' otherwise known as the seaside
town of Hunstanton on the north Norfolk coast, for years a popular
biker meeting place, will be once again be allowing bike parking
thanks to the efforts of the BMF.
As revealed to the BMF, from Sunday 29th June, bikers can once
again park on Hunstanton's Lower Green and Terrace. This follows
a two-month period when bike parking facilities were removed to
allow rebuilding of the pier amusement arcade and subsequent fears
that bike parking would not be allowed to return to the sea-front
venue.
Talking exclusively to the BMF's Local Transport specialist,
Richard Olliffe, Hunstanton's Resort Services Manager Richard
Townsley said: "I would like to thank the BMF for their common
sense approach and support on this issue and I am delighted the
announce that bikers can once more use the Lower Green and Terrace".
Due to continued building works, space will initially be limited
to first 175 machines, with further free supervised bike parking
available on the Southend Road Coach Park on Sundays and Bank
Holidays. Commenting Richard Townsley said: "We realise the
latter area is not particularly favoured by bikers but request
their indulgence until building works on the Lower Green site
are complete".
Concerned over speculation of a long term bike ban, he added:
"We are always pleased to welcome bikers to Hunstaton and
we intend to be pro-active in seeking their views in improving
facilities here. To that end I will be hosting a Motorcyclists
Forum at Hunstanton Town Hall at 3.00pm on Sunday 24th August
to listen to the views of bikers on what we should and could be
doing".
Local BMF representative Ian Bamforth said: "This is fantastic
news. The resort management have delivered on a promise made to
the BMF on the resumption date. The Green is a traditional meet,
a great day out for us bikers and it's a spectacle for the visitors.
We're back"!!
