I have just replaced the rear tail light on my 2006 Ducati 800ss with a Clear Alternatives replacement with integrated indicators. I love the way it looks, but I need to replace the original flasher unit so they continue to flash at the original speed. The trouble is nobody can tell me where the bloody original flasher unit IS on my bike.

Help Me!

Critterdoc.

Cool :)

The flasher relay should be under the seat next to the battery and ECU.

It may be integrated with other electronics, though - I believe Ducati did that for a while - in which case you may have a problem.

Try finding it by turning the ignition on (don't start the engine) and turning on an indicator. Listen for the relay clicking in time with the flasher and follow the sound.

If there's no click it's solid state. In which case the only way around it I can think of is to put a resistor in line with each indicator to get it back up to what the unit is expecting...

Let us know how you get on?

Thanks mate......already tried the clicking thing to no avail, so I suspect it is solid state and integrated somewhere. Nobody seems to know where the bloody thing is, so I plan to ride down to the Ducati dealer and have a tech show me.

That was going to be the next thing I suggested...

Phoned Ducati UK but they were as useful as a chocolate oven glove.

Let us know if you're still stuck and I'll try another source...
