The UK electronics firm Acumen have just launched a new style of battery charger, or minder, whatever you like to call it.

Maybe it's a bit late now for the winter storage problems, but if you want a battery minder for all year round then this may be well worth a look. This new intelligent charger from Acuman, or 'Smart Charger' is perfect if you don't use your bike much. We all know what's it's like if you leave your bike for weeks with the alarm on, so this little unit takes care of all your problems in one.

The new charger uses clever digital technology to carefully keep your battery's plates and acid in top condition. All the other normal chargers on the market just push electricity into the battery, whether it needs it or not. This is not a good thing for the battery and does reduce the life considerably.
