Just in time to miss the beginning of the season, there's a new book out that could be very useful. Aimed at the trackday novice, it gives loads of advice and helpful pointers in a light hearted, informal way, Much like MotorbikesToday, actually. Probably because I wrote it...

Craig Jones, one of the nicest guys in motorsport as well as one of the brightest stars and strongest hopes for a British champion, has sadly succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash while fighting for the lead at the Brands Hatch round of World Supersport... Remember the GPS we wanted to give away? Well we have a couple of deserving winners. Yes, we've found them both at last. Bizarrely, there are distinct similarities between them, too. Not least that they are both seriously deserving cases, both are temporarily sans bike and...well, read on.

The latest Race news from around the World
MotoGP, SBK, British Superbikes plus other news updated every week.

Brno in the Czech Republic is a fantastic circuit for racers, engineers and fans alike. It's fast, complicated and needs lots of power. It also turns up the occasional surprise, especially with the weather. And this year was a doozy. Oh, and a couple of surprises in the race as well, with unusually good, and bad, performances...

2008 has been grim for Brits in SBK, so we should be really, really happy that not only is Paul Bird going to run a second bike alongside the fast and thoroughly pleasant Greg Lavilla, but also he's got the equally fast and possibly even nicer Chris Walker on board. Just in time for Brands Hatch, too.

Brands Hatch. One of the most exciting circuits on the calendar offering close racing and brilliant views as well as a fabulous atmosphere and classic British summer weather. A real weekend of highs and lows, this, with some of the best racing we've seen this season combining with the tragedy you can find elsewhere on this page...

Buell have a fascinating take on things. Like many smaller companies, they have their particular furrow they choose to plough, and sometimes it seems at odds with what you might expect of the bike they are trying to make. But not with the Ulysses XT. No, Buell's core values work very nicely indeed...
Suzuki really deserve the praise and admiration of all the biking public. Not just because of the excellent mainstream bikes they make, but because they had the courage to make the
B-King without totally sanitising it from the concept bike on which it was based...

Harley Davidson do some things spectacularly well. Making big, shiny motorbikes is one of them. And they don't get much bigger or shinier than the Road King Classic We sent Mars York off to see if the reality could possibly live up to the expectations and the appearance...

Steering dampers are, in some quarters, considered a bit naff. While others swear by them. Or at them sometimes. Anyway, there's a relatively new kid on the damping block and we got the chance to check it out. It would be fair to say that we were really rather impressed...
Ever wondered, when you're reading yet another article about the great and the good of the racing world, what it would be like for a normal human being to ride a full blown superbike? So did we, and in the absence of a normal being we sent the editor to find out...

Scrubbers leathers. A name that should be familiar to any regular visitor to these pages. We've used them for cleaning and for repairs, but alterations are a different thing altogether. Clare threw some sliders at them to see what happened...
